San Francisco Facebook Check-Ins: Social Media Giant Reveals SF's Top Five Spots (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Facebook Reveals SF's Top Five Most Social Spots

Facebook released results of its Social Landmarks study on Tuesday, revealing the locations where Facebook users check-in the most.

The Facebook check-in feature allows users to post their locations on the social media site--a popular practice for connecting and generally showing off. For the study, Facebook gathered results from 25 cities worldwide to see where users check in the most.

Globally, the study revealed that users are most likely to check in at sports stadiums and arenas, public areas, concert halls and shopping centers. And the results provided an interesting revelation about Facebook use in San Francisco.

Unsurprisingly, the number one spot was the home of our beloved San Francisco Giants, AT&T Park. (The Staples Center won the top spot in LA.) However, the other four local top spots made it abundantly clear which group is using the Facebook check-in feature most: tourists.

All four of the remaining spots were popular, predictable tourist spots. (Think Fisherman's Wharf, not Ferry Building.) Fortunately (unbelievably) the Painted Ladies escaped the list, but we're going to assume that's only because there may not be a "Full Houses houses" check-in available.

Check the top five Facebook check-in spots in our slideshow below. Then, be sure to check in at an obscure bar, bookstore or restaurant near you.
