'Avengers' & 'Firefly': Joss Whedon Fan Recreates Epic Opening Credits Sequence (VIDEO)

Joss Whedon superfans, prepare yourselves. This could very well be the shiniest mashup in the 'Verse.

One web savvy Whedon superfan -- with a knack for Final Cut -- recreated the "Firefly" opening credits with characters from Marvel's (Hulk) smash hit, "The Avengers." The end result is an epic supercut, featuring two of Whedon's most beloved projects.

The only unfortunate thing about this mashup is that it puts our Whedon-loving hearts in quite a predicament: Captain Mal or Captain America?

During a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, following the record-breaking debut of "The Avengers," Whedon indicated that if he could return to any of his fandoms, it would be to his ill-fated Fox series, "Firefly."

”You know, I love all my raggedy children,” he said. “But if I could be anywhere, I’d be on board Serenity.”

After the financial success of "The Avengers," Whedon took the time to thank his passionately devoted fan base. In a letter posted on the fansite Whedonesque.com, the writer-director made it clear that he isn't letting success of his Marvel blockbuster change him.

"People have told me that this matters, that my life is about to change," Whedon wrote. "I am sure that is true. And change is good -- change is exciting. I think -- not to jinx it -- that I may finally be recognized at Comic-Con. Imagine!"
