Zoo Proposal: Elephant Helps Man Pop The Question

Elephant Helps Man Pull Off Unforgettable Proposal

On Saturday, Siri, an elephant at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY, helped to create a day that Anna Deetz and Andrew Boetsma will never forget.

Boetsma proposed to Deetz at the zoo with Siri's help; she lumbered out during a performance carrying a sign that said, "Anna, will you marry me? Andrew," according to WSYR 9 in New York.

Deetz couldn't read the sign at first -- she told the news station that she needed new glasses -- but knew what was happening when she looked at Boestma and saw that he was kneeling, ring in hand.

She said "yes" and Boetsman placed the ring -- a family heirloom that belonged to Deetz's grandmother -- on her hand.

Boetsma told the station that he had been thinking "for years" how to propose to Deetz, but he "always knew he wanted to do it at a zoo."

Siri helped Boetsma pop the question, but some animals aren't so helpful during the big moment, like this dog who got a little too curious with the camera. Click through the slideshow below to check out some proposals that didn't turn out as well as Boetma and Deetz's.
