With the 4th of July quickly approaching, we are trying to soak up all the summer entertaining tips and hints we can get our hands on. That's why we love this video clip from EditorTV in which interior designers from all over the country gathered for an event at Pottery Barn in Beverly Hills for a little retail therapy...and to chat about their favorite aspects and secrets of summer entertaining.
Among the talent was interior designer Cassandra Stearns who said mixing bright pops of color with vintage fabrics is one of her favorite summer tricks of the trade. Other designers had a different take. From lighting lots of candles and putting out flowers, to creating a dramatic, sophisticated setting and incorporating quirky, off-beat pieces, these tips are not lacking.
But our favorite tid-bit? Good design does not have to be expensive! This reassuring statement came from interior designer and HGTV personality Kelly Edwards. The co-host of "Design On A Dime," said she believes you just have to know where to shop, and get creative with mixing and matching things that you wouldn't normally think would mesh well, like a high-end, expensive table with more affordable chairs.
No matter the designer, they all agreed upon one thing: They love to entertain outdoors. And we agree. There's nothing quite like creating a relaxing, casual outdoor setting to bring together friends and family.
We're pretty sure if we follow the advice of these experts, our party-planning (and execution) will be a hit. Bring it on summer soirees.
