Katie Holmes & 'Molly': Actress' First Movie After Divorcing Tom Cruise Will Be About A Single Mom

Katie Holmes First Film After Divorce

Katie Holmes' first film after moving to divorce Tom Cruise is about a single mom. According to People.com, "Molly," a project which Holmes co-wrote is co-producing, is set to begin shooting in New York.

Production is expected to run through August. Holmes recently relocated to the big city with her six-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise. The 33-year-old actress is filing for sole custody of Suri, a bold move that some say points to Holmes' misgivings about her soon-to-be ex-husband's affiliation with Scientology.

Holmes is certainly keeping busy. After a recent appearance on "Project Runway," she's set to debut a new collection for Holmes & Yang, her clothing line, at New York Fashion Week.

Her return to acting is not all that surprising, as many have noted that she was doing far more films before marrying Cruise than she has been in recent years. There have been multiple reports of Cruise pushing her to decline roles, including a would-be "Dawson's Creek" reunion (though other stars of that show said no reunion was in the works).

Though life for the real-life mother and daughter team must be quite dramatic at the moment, Katie and Suri seem to be enjoying New York. The duo has been spotted grabbing ice cream and generally going about their business without much trouble.
