Anthony Weiner 2013? Ex-Congressman Reportedly Considering NYC Mayoral Run

Anthony Weiner Reportedly Considering Running For Office Again

Former congressman Anthony Weiner, who resigned last year following revelations that he sent racy pictures to a stranger over Twitter, is reportedly considering running for mayor of New York City.

Before the scandal hit, Weiner had been exploring a 2013 run. His campaign was widely believed to be dead, but the New York Post reports that he is "seriously considering" vying for mayorship.

According to the Post, Weiner has already spoken to several former staffers about the bid, and would also consider running for Public Advocate.

Gothamist reports that the former Rep. has around $4.5 million in his campaign chest, only slightly behind City Council Speaker and current Democratic frontrunner Christine Quinn. He's already spending some of that money on campaign-related things (like office space and phone bills), DNAinfo points out.

After months away from the spotlight following his June 2011 resignation, Weiner has slowly begun to reappear in politics. Last month, he was interviewed on WNYC about the Supreme Court's Obamacare ruling.
