Jena Malone In 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' As Johanna Mason

It's Official: Jena Malone Is Johanna In 'Hunger Games'

Just about three weeks after it was first rumored, Lionsgate has officially announced that Jena Malone will play Johanna Mason in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."

In Suzanne Collins' best-selling "Hunger Games" trilogy, Mason is a former Hunger Games winner from District 3 who plays a large part in the Quarter Quell -- the 75th Hunger Games at the center of "Catching Fire's" story -- and becomes a rival of sorts to Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). The role is a favorite among fans, including Kristen Bell, who lobbied hard for the part over the last year.

With Malone's casting now official, that leaves just Finnick Odair (another fan favorite) as the last major "Catching Fire" role without an actor attached. Sam Claflin has been rumored to play the part, but Lionsgate has made it a policy not to confirm or deny casting rumors.

Starring Lawrence and Malone, as well as Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, Amanda Plummer and Philip Seymour Hoffman, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is due in theaters on Nov. 22, 2013.
