Jennifer Del Rio, ‘16 & Pregnant' Star, Allegedly Flees Florida To Escape Abusive Father Of Twin Sons

'16 & Pregnant' Star Flees, Fights For Custody Of Twin Boys

A teen mom traveled 1,000 miles to get away from her 'baby daddy', who she says is a huge threat to her family's safety.

Jennifer Del Rio, who you might remember as the Latina teen mom from the third season of MTV’s controversial show “16 & Pregnant,” has allegedly fled from Florida to Illinois, in order to file legal documents against, Joshua Smith, the father of her twin boys.

According to TMZ, the 18-year-old mom is asking a judge for sole custody of their young boys, and has filed legal documents in Lake County, Illinois, where she now lives, having allegedly fled Florida to escape from her ex. In the filed documents, Jennifer says she's the primary caregiver of the couple's sons -- feeding them, bathing them and grooming them -- so it's in their best interest to stay with her permanently.

Jennifer says there's no way she can share custody with Joshua -- as is the current arrangement -- due to their history of domestic violence.

Wetpaint.com reports that Joshua has a history of violence and was arrested back in 2011 for allegedly attacking Jennifer. The site also reports that joshua had Jennifer arrested for battery after he got out of jail.

According to Gather News Celebs, the former couple's tumultuous relationship was put on display when they appeared on "16 & Pregnant." During their episode, Josh was reportedly extremely aggressive towards his children's mom and even shoved her in her lower abdomen just after she underwent a C-section.
