The advent of August can mean only one thing for music fans in and near Chicago.
No, this has nothing to do with National Brownies At Brunch Month. We're talking, of course, about Lollapalooza, Chicago's biggest annual music festival, which is set to take over Grant Park Friday through Sunday with dozens upon dozens of bands ranging from rock titans (Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers) to up-and-coming local favorites (JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound, Kid Color), loads of fantastic food and a little bit of everything in between.
But alas, the high-profile festival sold out weeks ago, as did most of its official post-festival concerts being held at music venues located throughout the city.
So what's a music-loving procrastinator to do? Thankfully, there is no shortage of parties, aftershows and other events that will be spreading the Lolla love far beyond the Grant Park main gate. Below, we've spotlighted a few.
Looking for more options? Gapers Block also has compiled a solid Lolla party guide. Really just want to see a celebrity? The Tribune has you covered. (Spoiler alert: Hang out at Sunda and Debonair Social Club.)
Check back on HuffPost Chicago for photos and reviews from Grant Park throughout the weekend. Follow @robojojo on the ground for real-time coverage as much as the festival's notoriously spotty cell reception allows.
Note: For free-with-RSVP events, you'll want to be sure to show up early. Somehow, the lure of free booze attracts a small army of revelers like nothing else. All events are 21-plus and free unless otherwise noted.
