5 Dead, 29 Wounded In City Weekend Violence

Five men are dead and at least 29 people were wounded in acts of violence around the city this weekend.

The weekend’s first fatality occurred early Saturday when a 20-year-old man was beaten and stabbed outside a gas station in the River North area early Saturday. A man who had recently moved to Chicago from Puerto Rico was stabbed to death in a fight with a group of people.

About 3:45 a.m. Saturday, 20-year-old Eric Lopez, was with some other people in a van at the BP gas station at LaSalle and Ontario. A “party bus” pulled into the gas station, gang signs were flashed, and a physical altercation ensued, a law enforcement source said.
