Shia LaBeouf is reportedly lining up to join in "Nymphomanic," Lars Von Trier's upcoming (and steamy) drama, according to a source who tipped off THR.
The project currently stars Von Trier's frequent collaborator Charlotte Gainsbourg ("Melancholia"), whose character's sexual history is the focus of the film. Her husband, to be played by Stellan Skarsgard, narrates. It's possible -- but not confirmed -- that LaBeouf would play one of Gainsbourg's lovers. Nicole Kidman has also recently hinted that she is attached.
As The Wrap notes, Von Trier -- whose production company has produced explicit movies -- is no stranger to erotic cinema. "Nymphomaniac," which will be released in two films, will see two different versions of each: a graphic edit and a softer cut.
Perhaps LaBeouf's appearance in a recent Sigur Ros video has helped endear him to the director. In the visual for “Fjögur Píanó," the actor appears in the buff (sorry!).
He also stars in "Lawless," a Prohibition drama written by Nick Cave that hits theaters on Aug. 29. Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce and Mia Wasikowska all co-star.
"Nymphomaniac" would be the latest in a string of indies for the former "Even Stevens" star. Beyond "Lawless," LaBeouf also appears in Robert Redford's "The Company You Keep" and "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman," directed by Fredrik Bond.
