'Hoarding: Buried Alive': Cancer-Stricken Man Sees Children For First Time In Over 20 Years (VIDEO)

Gary is a long-time hoarder who hasn't seen his children in more than 20 years. The latest "Hoarding: Buried Alive" (Sun., 9 p.m. ET on TLC) showed the depths of his compulsion, along with his sprawling hoard that's gotten so out of control he has to sleep outside under tarps.

Not only was his house filled to the brim with his hoard, but so were several cars on the property, and much of the property itself. It was a touching reunion when Gary saw his children for the first time in two decades, despite it being under such trying circumstances.

His wife had left him and the children years ago, and Gary admitted he hadn't been the best father to his kids. He apologized to them sincerely, and it looked like the family might get a much-needed reconciliation.

Then Gary told his children that he has cancer in most of his body. It was a hard blow, but they only want him to find some happiness in the time he has left. That they even showed up to help after all this time speaks volumes.

"Hoarding: Buried Alive" chronicles new struggles with the mental disorder every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on TLC).
