'I Married A Mobster': 'Whitey' Bulger's Wife Joined Him In A Shootout

Notorious mobster James "Whitey" Bulger was arrested last summer after 16 years in hiding. "I Married a Mobster" (Wed., 10 p.m. ET on ID) touched base with Lindsey Cyr, who was his common law wife for years.

She recalled the first time she got physically pulled into the violent life he led. It was on their first date night after the birth of their son. Bulger came under fire, so he pulled Lindsey behind a car with him and started shooting back. He then got a real surprise when Lindsey grabbed his second gun and joined in. And she was good.

After their son died from Reye's Syndrome, though, the couple grew apart and ultimately separated. This saved Lindsey from having to spend all those years on the run with him.

Now captured, Bulger is expected to face trial next year on 19 charges of murder, according to CNN, though he is expected to try for immunity, based on an agreement he had in the 1970s while working as an FBI informant. His attorneys argue that this immunity agreement covered all charges filed against him now.

"I Married a Mobster" airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on ID.
