Rebecca Weiss' Mom, Vilma Causey, Says Son-In-Law Alan Weiss Is Acting Strangely After Disappearance (VIDEO)

Mom Of Missing Snorkeler Says Son-In-Law Is Acting 'Bad,' 'Strange'

Police aren't investigating Alan Weiss as a suspect in the disappearance of his wife Rebecca, but Weiss' mother-in-law is asking a lot of questions.

In an interview with KTLA (video above), Rebecca's mother Vilma Causey claims that her son-in-law is acting very strangely in the wake of her daughter's disappearance.

Unlike Weiss, who has refused to show his face on the local news and hasn't spoken to his in-laws since Rebecca went missing Saturday, Causey has been plastering the neighborhood with fliers to get the word out about her daughter's disappearance.

Causey told KTLA that her son-in-law was acting "very bad, very strange." She went on to question his decision to stay quiet about the disappearance, declaring, "That's not the reaction of a person who has somebody missing that is close to you. I can't forgive him for that."

She also claimed that Rebecca knew Alan had a girlfriend.

While Weiss refused to appear on camera to tell his side of the story, he did have a brief, joking exchange with KTLA reporter Carolyn Costello over the phone. Weiss reportedly said, "She was the love of my life. She would kill me if she knew I said that. I'm just kidding."

In an interview with CBS2/KCAL9, Causey also questioned the fact that no witnesses have come forward to place her daughter near the Terranea Resort on the day Weiss claims she went snorkeling.

"Would she be the only one on the beach to swim?" asked Causey, anguished. "Especially at that resort? No one saw her?"

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to CBS2/KCAL9 that Weiss is not a suspect in his wife's disappearance, but are still investigating all aspects of the case.

Weiss reported his wife missing Saturday after she didn't return home from a day of free-diving. He claims he drove to a spot where the two would often snorkel together, near the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, found her car and belongings, and then called the police.

Since Sunday, diving teams from various law enforcement agencies have been searching the water for any sign of Rebecca Weiss, but have found nothing.

Rebecca Weiss is a 50-year-old Asian woman with black hair and brown eyes. She stands five-foot-five and weighs 115 pounds. Her husband last saw her leaving their home on Marina Pointe Drive, Marina Del Rey, wearing a wet suit. She drove away in her black 2006 BMX X5, and her license plate is 5UEJ690.

If you have any information about Weiss, you can call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. To remain anonymous, call “LA Crime Stoppers” at 800-222-TIPS (8477), text the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or go to lacrimestoppers.org.
