'Political Animals' Finale: President Garcetti's Death Leaves Elaine Almost No Choice But To Run (VIDEO)

Shocking Death Changes The Barrish Family's Plans On 'Political Animals' Finale

Perhaps the biggest question for fans of "Political Animals" (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on USA), now that the show has wrapped its short run, is if it will be back for a second season. While it was originally touted as a mini-series, TVLine is reporting that series creator Greg Berlanti says they'd love to do more episodes, and have the cast contracted for multiple seasons.

The way the first season ended set up a second season beautifully. After Elaine Barrish Hammond decided to forgo retirement in favor of running as President Garcetti's vice-presidential candidate, things took a dramatic, unexpected turn when Air Force One crashed, killing the president and dozens of White House staffers.

Suddenly, the slimy vice president that Garcetti wanted out of office, and Elaine's ex-husband Bud recently punched, was the president. Elaine has no other choice but to run for president in the next election now, right?

Elaine flashed a wry smile when Bud asked her that very question. Will viewers ever hear the answer?
