'Homeland' Season 2: New Preview Highlights Carrie's Intense Mission (VIDEO)

Claire Danes Is Back In Action For Intense 'Homeland' Promo

The end of "Homeland" Season 1 saw Claire Danes' troubled heroine, Carrie Mathison, submitting to electroconvulsive therapy to try and cure her bipolar disorder -- and in the process, apparently forgetting a crucial piece of information that might have proven Nicolas Brody's (Damian Lewis) ties to terrorist Abu Nazir. Oops.

But Carrie's ordeal won't be slowing her down much when Season 2 premieres (Sun., Sept. 30, 10 p.m. ET on Showtime). According to a newly released teaser, Carrie and her mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin) will be back in the thick of things -- despite Carrie having been fired from the CIA at the end of last season. The promo also highlights Danes' intense and emotionally fraught performance, which won her a Golden Globe and nabbed her an Emmy nomination this year.
