Nick Lachey has already received considerable criticism from veterans for his military-themed reality show, "Stars Earn Stripes," and now the executive director of Log Cabin Republicans, R. Clarke Cooper, is taking aim at the singer's controversial competition.

"Nick said the show was 'a once in a lifetime experience.' Well, I know a terrific Army recruiter who can guarantee Nick a true 'once in a lifetime' experience," Clarke texted me.

No stranger to the military himself, Clarke served in Iraq in 2004 and is furious about the new NBC show.

"As a combat veteran, I find that show is an insult to those who actually wear the uniform," Clarke wrote. "Every vet I know thinks the show is either a joke at best or offensive at worst. The show is DOA with the military, regardless of political affiliations. The producers are clearly tone deaf."

Although Clarke said political affiliation has nothing to do with his outrage, his anger seemed focused on Lachey and not, say, Todd Palin, who is also a member of the cast.

When asked to comment on Sarah Palin's husband, Cooper responded, "no more comment on this story from me. I'm currently in Tampa and focused on the RNC platform meetings."
