'American Gypsies': Family Sacrifices A Lamb To Try And Help Father's Ailing Health (VIDEO)

'American Gypsies' Sacrifice A Lamb To Help Ailing Dad

With the Johns brothers' father in the hospital, they decide they needed to do something more to help him recover. So on the latest episode of "American Gypsies" (Tue., 8 p.m. ET on National Geographic), they determined that a sacrifice was needed.

According to their mother, the sacrifice sends a message out into the world to heal their father. So the boys picked out the "right" lamb for the sacrifice, and after three days of nurturing, they took it in to be sacrificed.

Nicky and his mom did bring the body of the slaughtered lamb back home for use in a sacrificial feast, or "salva."

"By providing this slava, I wanted to prove to my mother and my brothers that our traditions are still alive and well in this family," Nicky said later.

Keep up with "American Gypsies" every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on National Geographic.
