Andres Flores, Maryland Man, Was Prepared To Murder Boy In Kidnap-For-Hire Plot, Police Say

Cops Bust Potentially Deadly Kidnap-For-Hire Suspect

Authorities in Maryland arrested a man who allegedly plotted to kidnap a child and hold him hostage for a $300,000 ransom.

Andres Flores, 36, is believed to have been prepared to kill the young victim of his intended kidnap-for-hire scheme in the event that the 10-year-old boy's parents refused to meet his demands, according to CBS Baltimore.

"The suspect made a statement that they would have to get rid of the child," Lt. Michael Holmes of the Cecil County Sheriff's Office said.

Police say that Flores constructed an elaborate abduction scheme, only to have someone notify the FBI. Last week, authorities staged a sting operation and busted Flores during an arranged meeting at a strip mall with a potential kidnapper to carry out his plan.

Flores planned to kidnap the boy -- whose parents he believed had access to large amounts of money -- outside of his Cecil County home, according to ABC 2. Police are not naming the boy or his family.

Flores is charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping against a child under 16 and extortion. He is being held on $750,000 bail.
