Andre Parker, Kent State Punt Return Fail: Player Runs Wrong Way Against Towson (VIDEO)

WATCH: College Football Player Returns Punt.. The Wrong Way

The good news for Andre Parker is that he has an entire season to make everyone forget this hilarious mistake. Of course, the bad news for the Kent State linebacker is that the first memorable play of the 2012 college football season involves him returning a punt 58 yards in the wrong direction.

With the Kent State punting to Towson just before the half, Parker was on the coverage team that went flying downfield after the punt was sent skyward. After the ball seemed to deflect off a Towson player, Parker, who had overrun the kick and was looping back, scooped up the live ball as his momentum was taking him back in the direction he had come from.

"Wait a minute.. wait a minute.." one of the TSN announcers squawked incredulously as Parker picked up speed after securing the ball. "You're going the wrong way!"

Parker stiff-armed the first would-be tackler as he barreled down the field.. in the wrong direction. To the chagrin of the Towson coaching staff, a player on the return team eventually knocked the unexpected returner out of bounds.
