A 5-year-old Highland Park, Ill. girl was killed Monday afternoon when a car drove over the curb and onto the sidewalk in the Chicago suburb's business district.
Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento had been walking with her two brothers -- aged 2 and 4 -- and her mother Modesta Sacramento-Jimenez, 25, around 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Central at the time of the deadly crash, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Jaclyn was taken to Evanston Hospital and was pronounced dead there at 5 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune. Her mother and brothers were also hospitalized but are expected to survive.
As of Monday evening, no charges have been filed against the 18-year-old driver of the Lexus that police say veered off the road and struck the family, CBS Chicago reports.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
