Bob Newhart Reminisces About The Late Phyllis Diller On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (VIDEO)

Bob Newhart Remembers Phyllis Diller On 'Kimmel'

Bob Newhart's appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" coincided with his 83rd birthday, but rather than talking about himself, he wanted to remember the late Phyllis Diller. "She was a lovely lady," Newhart said of his friend. "I don’t know anybody who enjoyed being in front of an audience more than Phyllis."

Diller passed away at the age of 95 on August 20. Newhart said he hopes to follow in her footsteps by performing until he physically can't anymore.

Upon her passing, Newhart released a statement. In it, he wrote, "There was no one like Phyllis before, and I doubt if there will be anyone after." The same could be said for Bob Newhart.

Earlier that same day, "Today" honored the legendary comedian. "Anyone who grew up with Newhart's comedy has a fond memory of the button-down comic who found gleeful laughter in the simplest, most classic scenarios," the show said.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" can be seen every weeknight at 12 a.m. ET on ABC.
