James Van Der Beek Interrupted By Fire Alarm On 'Conan'

After a long time away, James Van Der Beek stopped by to chat it up with Conan O'Brien. Both have since moved on to new shows since their last meet-up fourteen years ago. Now, on "Conan," a humbler Van Der Beek was able to admit he'd probably reached his "douchiness peak" when he was on last.

Back then, Van Der Beek was 21-years-old, starring in "Varsity Blues" and hosting "Saturday Night Live" for the first time. In other words, he was on top of the world -- and apparently cool enough to rock tinted glasses on the show.

It was all a good laugh, and things were going smoothly, until suddenly they weren't. Right in the middle of the interview, the fire alarms started going off. Turns out there was popcorn incident in the nurses' station.

"You wait fourteen years," O'Brien said. "Fourteen years ‘til it’s safe to come back on this show and there’s a f*cking fire alarm!"

Always expect the unexpected on "Conan," weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on TBS. James Van Der Beek stars in "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23," coming back on Tuesday, October 23rd at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
