A Silver Alert has been issued for a teenage girl missing from Hope Mills, North Carolina.
Police are looking for 16-year-old Makayla Rose Macedo, who is believed to be cognitively impaired.
A spokesperson for the Hope Mills Police Department told The Huffington Post that Macedo was last on Wednesday, in the 1400 block of Jockey Court in Parkton. She was traveling east, toward Blacks Bridge Road, police said.
The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Macedo shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday. According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety website, Silver Alerts are issued for individuals that suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments. The state developed the Silver Alert program to quickly locate missing persons who may be endangered.
Macedo is white, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 135 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with black design, black tights and black shoes.
