Detroit Population Drops 1%, New Census Bureau Figures Show

DETROIT, MI -- The city lost an estimated 7,137 residents, or 1 percent of its population from 2010 to 2011, according to estimates released today from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.

The new statistics are not as staggering as those released last year after the 2010 Census, which revealed that Detroit had lost 25 percent of its population in 10 years.
