"Gallup uses a sample that exactly matches the adult population distribution of gender, age, race, Hispanic ethnicity, education, region, # of adults in the household, and phone status. All of the people sampled are then asked questions that have identified likely voters over many decades - with slight modifications from cycle to cycle to continually keep them aligned with population truths. If the model they use to identify likely voters works poorly then they will tweak things to do better. However, the idea that they are purposefully trying to misrepresent the nature of the voting population is just wrong." - dpearl
