Tina Fey is sticking by the Peacock with a new deal at NBC. According to Variety, Fey has signed a four-year deal with Universal TV to create new shows and possibly star in projects.
"She's been a cornerstone of the network for over the past 10 years and there was just no way we were going to let her get away," Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman, said. "It's a measure of our esteem for her as a writer, actress and producer -- she's in a class by herself."
Fey currently stars in "30 Rock," a sitcom she created. The series will end after a 13-episode Season 7, premiering on Thursday, October 4. Fey has won two Golden Globes and an Emmy for her portrayal of Liz Lemon on "30 Rock." Prior to "30 Rock," Fey served as head writer on "Saturday Night Live."
As "30 Rock" comes to an end, Fey told Ryan Seacrest at the 2012 Emmys that she wants fans to make the final season "satisfying to people who actually care about the characters."
NBC recently signed new deals with Greg Daniels, Jason Katims, Michael Schur and Dick Wolf. Variety reports Fey will likely launch her own production company to develop shows with others. The new Universal TV deal starts in 2013 after "30 Rock" wraps in January. However, Fey isn't expected to develop a show for the 2013-2014 season.
The final season of "30 Rock" kicks off on Thursday, October 4 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
