Brigitte Bardot Has Evolved From A '60s Sex Kitten To A Private Activist In Style (PHOTOS)

Which Was Brigitte Bardot's Best Look?

In the 1950s, '60s and early '70s, Brigitte Bardot was one of the biggest sex symbols in the world. She was known for her voluminous (and still enviable) blonde hair, perfect sense of style and role in "And God Created Woman." It's no wonder Bardot is still referenced as a muse and icon in contemporary style, no one has yet managed to emulate the same effortless glamour.

After living her life in front of the cameras for years, Bardot retired from modeling and acting in 1973. Since then, she has been more recognizable for her animal rights activism, political beliefs and solitary life in St. Tropez, France where she lives with her husband Bernard d'Ormale, but she still ventures out into the public on rare occasions. And when she does, it's clear that Bardot still has that something special that made her famous.

To celebrate Bardot's 78th birthday on September 28th, 2012, we're taking a look back at her most glamorous outfits from the '50s through the aughts. What do you think about how her style has changed over the decades?
