With the recent focus in food moving toward healthier eating, many people are looking for recipes that are just as flavorful without all the calories and fat. But where can we find food that is both healthy and delicious? For the past 25 years Cooking Light magazine has strived to offer recipes that are both healthy and delicious without compromise.
In the video above at Cooking Light's recent Light Up the Night event celebrating its 25th anniversary, editor Scott Mowbray explains the magazine's healthy focus and talks about the trend that has swept both supermarkets and restaurants. With more and more home cooks and chefs interested in global cuisine and cooking with local foods, the current trend focuses on "global flavors that use local ingredients," says Mowbray. Add to that a healthy and moderate dose of alcohol (which has been shown to reduce heart disease)-- be it wine, beer or cocktails -- and you're on your way to eating healthy and delicious meals without depriving yourself of life's pleasures.
