Fiona Apple, Perez Hilton: Singer Slams Media For 'Irresponsible' Articles

Fiona Apple Slams Perez Hilton, Says She's 'Not Invulnerable To This Stuff'

At a recent concert in Clearwater, Fla., Fiona Apple went on an epic rant railing against her detractors, most specifically gossip websites PerezHilton and TMZ.

A recent bout of negative publicity seems to have spurred the some seven-minute lecture from the musician. Apple was arrested at a border stop in Sierra Blanca, Tx., on Sept. 20 after marijuana was found on her tour bus. Unflattering photographs of the 35-year-old star, including a mugshot from her arrest, then proliferated on the Internet.

The YouTube recording uploaded to the site on Sept. 30 shows Apple sitting on the stage floor. "All right, this is all going to culminate in me actually talking to Perez Hilton. I'm sorry man, but you're the only that has the guts to be a person rather than a bunch of people like TMZ or whatever, I can give you that," she begins.

Apple then calls the tabloids "totally irresponsible" and says that reading gossip items about her appearance "hurts." She also said that, despite her remarks, she harbored no real hope for any change in the media.

I've given away my computer now, because I cannot do it anymore. I've trying to keep track of all the fucking things that are said. So whoever's gonna write and be mean, go ahead I'm not going to read it. But Perez Hilton, I should have never have seen this. But to hire "experts" to comment and say that I am sick is totally, totally irresponsible, and dangerous and you should know better… And I'm not on any drugs. I had some bourbon before I came out here.

Can we please? I realize it's ridiculous and hopeless for me to ask this but, Perez Hilton, TMZ whoever you represent, I'm not invulnerable to this stuff. I've been around for many years. But it hurts. I spent all yesterday -- I don't need to hear that I'm 90-years-old, just because I didn't have a facelift in the last seven years you saw me.

This isn't the first time Apple has ranted to audiences since her arrest. At a Houston show on Sept. 22, Apple made allegations of "inappropriate and probably illegal" police conduct while she was detained at the Hudspeth County jail before being released on $10,000 bail.
