In case you didn't know, fruit flies are pesky little insects that invade our kitchens when there's ripe fruit around. If you hate these little insects, you might be tempted to banish all produce from your house to get rid of fruit flies.
But what you probably didn't know is that the very fruit that creates the fly problem can be just the solution to getting rid of those tiny winged pests.
No matter how tidy and clean you keep your kitchen, when you can't get rid of fruit flies the space just feels dirty. And it's hard to feel good about cooking in a kitchen that doesn't feel clean. But thanks to blogger The Idea Room, you no longer have to worry about a fruit fly invasion. She has shared an ingenious technique to trap fruit flies requiring just a couple of common household items: a piece of fruit, a jar, a piece of paper and tape.

By shaping the paper into a funnel and attaching it to a jar with fruit inside, fruit flies are attracted in and can't easily find their way out. And while in Europe you can buy a similar contraption without having to construct your own, this works just as well.
