Mary Jo Buttafuoco Talks Moving On For 'Oprah: Where Are They Now?'

Mary Jo Buttafuoco didn't ask to make national headlines, but she found herself in the media spotlight along with her husband Joey and his teenage lover, Amy Fisher. Mary Jo was shot by Fischer, and she says now that the experience was "a blessing in disguise." Oprah Winfrey checked in with Mary Jo on the latest "Oprah: Where Are They Now?"

Mary Jo said that without the horrific experiences she went through on May 19, 1992, she wouldn't be where she is today. And where she is now is a place of happiness and, to her own surprise, love.

"I really thought that was it, you know, I had my one shot. I’m old, it’s never gonna happen again," she told Oprah. "Lo and behold, surprise! I fell in love at 47-years-old."

Mary Jo is now married and happy. And while she does talk with her ex -- she claims he had no conscience -- it's not often. Shes moved on, and now uses her life story as inspiration in her work as a motivational speaker.

"Oprah: Where Are They Now?" continues on Tuesday, October 23 on OWN.
