Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo on Tuesday announced the recent arrival of their newest newborn: a healthy western lowland gorilla.
According to a zoo release, 17-year-old mama gorilla Bana and 23-year-old silverback papa Kwan welcomed their baby into the world on Oct. 11.

The baby has not yet been sexed or named but is getting on just fine with its parents.
According to the zoo, western lowland gorillas are critically endangered in their native central Africa.
Guests of the zoo may visit Bana and her baby beginning Wednesday in the zoo's Regenstein Center for African Apes.
