Police acting on a tip about an "exotic hydroponic operation" inside a home on Chicago's Northwest Side came upon 100 marijuana plants reportedly worth an estimated $500,000 in a massive bust Wednesday.
Paul Sherman, 50, was arrested Wednesday after police discovered his sophisticated indoor grow operation in the 3900 block of North Elston Avenue, NBC Chicago reports.
In addition to the drugs, police found $30,000 in cash and two illegal firearms inside the home and Sherman is facing felony marijuana manufacturing and weapons charges, according to CBS Chicago.
The pot plants, which weighed over 5,000 pounds, were loaded up by police around 9 p.m. Wednesday to be hauled away.
Sherman was expected to appear in bond court later Thursday, ABC Chicago reports.
