Ari Seth Cohen, 31, started photographing fashionable women in their 70s, 80s and beyond on the streets of New York City four years ago. He grew up close to his grandmother, and so he appreciates senior style icons, who "live life to the fullest," he told the Today show.

Cohen published those images in his book "Advanced Style." He appeared on the program with "geriatric starlet" Iris Apfel, 91; Ilona Smithkin, 92, an artist and cabaret performer; and Lynn Dell, 79, who has owned a New York boutique for 50 years, and whose personal mantra is: "I dress for the theater of my life every day."

"Life is very gray and I think when you dress up it makes you happy," Apfel said. "There's a huge market of people over 60 who can't find proper clothes to wear because the designers -- I know lots of them and their bosses tell them -- 'youth, youth, youth, it's not young enough!'"
