Punk princess Avril Lavigne is set to cover a Nickelback song for an upcoming anime film soundtrack.

NME reports that Lavigne will cover Nickelback's "How You Remind Me" for the new anime film "One Piece Film Z," which is part of the "One Piece" manga film series. The song was originally sung by Lavigne's fiance, Chad Kroeger.

"How You Remind Me" was released in 2001 and was Nickelback's break-out single off the group's "Silver Side Up" album. Kroeger wrote the song about his ex-girlfriend Jodi, he told MTV in 2003.

The "One Piece" series, originally created by Eiichiro Oda in 1997, is the best-selling manga series of all time, with 67 volumes and 300 million copies of comics sold worldwide, according to the Guardian.

Lavigne's cover of "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett will also be featured on the soundtrack, according to NME via Anime News Network.

Lavigne and the Nickelback frontman got engaged in August, just about six months after the 27-year-old split from reality star Brody Jenner.

Record executive L.A. Reid revealed that Lavigne sought the help of Kroeger for her upcoming album.

"She worked with Chad Kroeger, who is now her fiance, and they did a really good record," Reid told Billboard of the album, which is set to drop in early 2013.
