A Nassau County police officer was shot and killed in Queens Tuesday morning, ABC reports.
The incident occurred near the corner of the Cross Island Expressway and Jamaica Avenue, close to the border of Nassau County.
The New York Post reports the officer, a member of the NCPD Emergency Services Unit, was killed "while pursuing suspects who fled the scene of an accident." He was shot once and taken to North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital.
In the ensuing shootout, one of the suspects was also killed.
The other suspect is still at large, according to NBC New York.
While the scene is under investigation, Cross Island Parkway is closed in both directions at Jamaica Avenue.
On Thursday, 43-year-old NCPD officer Joseph P. Olivieri was struck and killed by a car while responding to an accident on the Long Island Expressway.
