The dark and twisted tale of a mother and son unfolded on "The Devil You Know." Sante Kimes and her son, Kenneth, committed their crimes together, and remained committed to one another deep into their trial. They would scam people out of money, and then murder them for good measure. One of their victims was their own landlord. That body never turned up.
In fact, their case marked the first time that someone in New York got life imprisonment without a body being found. According to her son, Marte's motto was "no body, no crime."
At first they remained fiercely loyal to one another, but finally Kenneth changed his own plea to guilty and agreed to testify against his mother. Of Sante Kimes, one investigator said, "I don’t know of any other woman who was as evil as her."
Mother and son are now each serving life sentences without parole.
More shocking true crime stories are told each week on "The Devil You Know," Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ID.
