Whooooodunnit?
An 11-year-old boy in England was attacked with silly string by a gang of teens attempting to steal his pet owl, according to the Mirror.
The Morecambe boy, whose name has not been released, was walking with a friend and the bird on Saturday afternoon, the Lancaster Guardian reports, when approximately 10 teenagers approached.
One teen reportedly stated, "Give me your owl," posed like a boxer, then proceeded to spray both the boy and his friend with silly string while shouting at them.
The owl's owner threw a drink at the teen, who responded by punching the boy in the head twice. The two boys fled, owl in tow, and were able to elude the teenagers. Law enforcement is still trying to locate the suspects.
Though the victim was not seriously hurt, he sustained swollen cheekbones and police say he may develop black eyes.
"This is a really odd incident," Police Chief Ben Hanley told the Lancaster Guardian, adding that "The use of the string has clearly caused the owl some distress."
While this time the owl was a victim, sometimes the animals are the perpetrators. In 2011, German police apprehended a drunk and disorderly owl that had apparently consumed two small bottles of Schnapps. The bird was taken into custody and cared for until it sobered up.
