Lakers Channel Deal Reached With AT&T U-Verse

THIRD Cable Company Brought Into The Laker Light

Another day, another half-million happy Lakers fans.

Time Warner Cable announced Saturday it had reached an agreement with AT&T U-verse to show Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes, the home of the Lakers, the MLS' Galaxy and the WNBA's Sparks, to AT&T's nearly 500,000 Southern California subscribers.

The announcement came a day after TWC reached deals with Charter Communications and Verizon FiOS.

AT&T plans to launch the channels Tuesday, when the Lakers open the NBA season at home against Dallas in a game that will be telecast on TNT. The first game on the TWC channels, which debuted this month, will be Wednesday from Portland.

"AT&T U-verse is thrilled to bring Lakers, Galaxy and Sparks games and other exciting content to U-verse TV customers in Southern California," Jeff Weber, president of content and advertising sales for AT&T Home Solutions, said in a news release. "Many of our customers are passionate about Los Angeles sports, and we're pleased to be able to deliver the content they want."

Cox Cable, DirecTV and Dish Network have yet to come to terms with TWC to show Lakers games, although all are reportedly still in talks to do so.

Cox and DirecTV last week offered to carry the channels on a specialty tier, but TWC rejected that plan. ___
