File this under scary irony: According to the Los Angeles Times, Russell Crowe's Noah's Ark movie, "Noah," may be impacted by Hurricane Sandy when it tears through New York on Monday evening.
As previously reported, a massive replica of Noah's ark was built for "Noah" in Oyster Bay, New York. The city, located on the North Shore of Long Island, has already experienced wind gusts of nearly 70 miles per hour, per the Los Angeles Times. However, while the ark may sustain some damage, it might not be a big deal for the film: As the Times notes, Noah's ark was "partially dismantled" in recent days and isn't expected to factor heavily in the remaining production days.
For his part, director Darren Aronofsky didn't seem too concerned. The director took to Twitter to note that he was using the work stoppage forced by Hurricane Sandy to catch up on some recent films.
Co-star Emma Watson, who plays Crowe's daughter in the film, also kept the mood light
Of course, "Noah" is far from the only New York-set production that has been impacted by the superstorm. Jimmy Kimmel was forced to cancel his show from the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Monday night; Paramount canceled a special screening of "Flight" at the Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan (Denzel Washington was set to appear); and Broadway closed all of its theaters.
