Fog Machine Malfunctions During Pistons-Rockets Game (VIDEO)

The halftime show came a little early Wednesday night, when the fog machine malfunctioned during the 2012-13 season opener between the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets in Detroit.

The fog machine, ostensibly meant for the Pistons' "Halloween Spectacular" halftime show, turned on with less than a minute to go in the second quarter, halting play as Palace employees tried to figure out how to shut it off. At one point, a referee went over to the source of the smoke gesturing to befuddled arena staff to cut the machine.

The Detroit crowd was treated to even more of a show, however: James Harden's prolific debut since being traded to Houston from Oklahoma City, ESPN notes. Harden finished with 37 points and 12 assists en route to a 105-96 Rockets victory, according to the Associated Press.
