Tigers' Savings Practically Spent As Arbitration Looms

Detroit -- It's already spent.

The Tigers had $16.75 million come off the books when they announced Tuesday that they've told Jose Valverde, Delmon Young and Gerald Laird to look for deals elsewhere as free agents.

Another $5 million, or close to it, will come from the salaries of Anibal Sanchez and Ryan Raburn. What the Tigers owed on Sanchez's contract after acquiring him from Miami was close to $3 million and Raburn's salary was $2.1 million.
