Broken Machines And Relocated Voters Cause Huge Lines At Polling Stations

NEW YORK — Broken ballot machines, missing privacy booths, confusion over new voting procedures and enormous lines marred the start of voting in the 2012 Presidential Election in New York City Tuesday morning.

The chaos came in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, which decimated neighborhoods, left hundreds of thousands without power and forced the Board of Elections to move dozens of polling sites to accommodate storm-ravaged areas.
