It's normal for parents to go goo goo gaga over their new babies, but it sounds like Nick Lachey wants to take fatherhood to another level.
In an interview with SheKnows.com, his wife, Vanessa Lachey, 31, admits that the former 98 Degrees star, 38, has turned out to be the doting dad she always knew he'd be.
“All of my hopes and dreams have come true and he is awesome,” the new mom, who gave birth to the couple's son, Camden John, in September, says of her husband. “I was actually joking earlier that if Nick could nurse Camden he would! If he had boobs, he would do it!”
But despite his strange interest in breastfeeding, Vanessa reveals that one of the reasons she fell in love with Nick was his desire to be a father.
"That is one of the things I looked for in him when we were dating,” she says. “Not only how he is as a man and a husband, but how he will be as a father.”
“He literally can cradle Camden and swing him around and do, ‘Shh, shh, shh.’ He does that so perfectly because for the first couple of weeks I couldn’t bend ... so Nick took that role and he is awesome at that,” Vanessa adds. “My thing is the obvious. I’m the feeder. I’m his meal ticket. As soon as I’m done feeding him, it is Nick’s time.”
And sports fan Nick has already got 8-week-old Camden hooked on football! So, just in case he decides to take up the sport one day, the Lacheys have the perfect nickname picked out.
“As he gets older, [we'll call him] CJ Lachey. That’s going to be his sports name or stage name -- or doctor’s name!” Vanessa jokes. “One of my girlfriends calls him, ‘Cam Cam.’ I call him Buddie, actually, and Nick calls him Cambone.”
