On "Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?," Joylynn Martinez thought she was married to a regular guy named Robert Bruce. But after his arrest, she found out her husband was leading a double life -- he was actually a rapist who’d been committing assaults for 20 years.
Dubbed Ether Man Bruce confessed to more than 30 assaults in various states across the US. Bruce was given the moniker because he used rags soaked in chemicals to incapacitate his victims.
Those who knew him were shocked. "I basically just shut down," Martinez said of the stunning revelation. "I couldn’t believe I knew this man for this many years and he was capable of what he had done. It’s just mind boggling to me."
On November 16, 2012, Bruce pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 156 years in prison. He is reportedly already serving a 64-year sentenced for another crime -- "attempting to blow up a police officer's home."
