'Firefly: Browncoats Unite' Preview: Nathan Fillion Recalls His Mal Reynolds Audition (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

WATCH: Nathan Fillion Describes His 'Firefly' Audition In 'Browncoats Unite' Special

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since Joss Whedon's "Firefly" made its debut -- yet after only 14 episodes and one unexpected movie, its impact on pop culture is undeniable.

Not only was it the project that arguably launched (or relaunched) the careers of Nathan Fillion (who recently paid homage to the show's legacy on a convention-themed episode of "Castle"), Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, Summer Glau and Morena Baccarin, it also became a cult hit thanks to its success on DVD.

New fans continue to discover the show to this day, but with Netflix and other networks trying to revive other gone-too-soon classics like "Arrested Development," "Firefly's" premature cancellation continues to be a source of frustration for the loyal Browncoats who supported the show from its inception.

On November 11, Science Channel will pay homage to the beloved sci-fi series, starting with an all-day marathon at 7 a.m. and culminating with a retrospective 10th anniversary special, "Firefly: Browncoats Unite," at 10 p.m. ET. The special reunites the original cast -- Fillion, Tudyk, Torres, Baldwin, Glau, Sean Maher and Jewel Staite -- with Whedon and executive producers Tim Minear and Jose Molina, as they recount the complete oral history of the show, from its conception to its heartbreaking cancellation and surprising rebirth as sequel movie "Serenity" in 2005.

Above, watch HuffPost TV's exclusive clip from the special, which features Fillion recounting his memory of his first audition for the role of Captain Mal Reynolds, captain of the ragtag band of misfits who crewed the Firefly-class ship Serenity. The camaraderie between the actors is still evident to this day, and if this 10th anniversary special convinces us of one thing, it's that Joss Whedon needs to take all of that hard-earned "Avengers" cash and resurrect the series for real. Shiny.

"Firefly: Browncoats Unite" airs Sunday, November 11 at 10 p.m. ET on Science Channel.
