Chicago Commuter App: RTA Releases New Mobile Site Aggregating Area Bus, Train And Bike Information

Think of it as a one-stop-smartphone-shop for Chicago's carless.

The Regional Transportation Authority on Friday released its transit information website, which combines real-time trip-planning information from CTA, Metra and Pace, on a new, free mobile platform located at

“This combines all three into one. It cuts across the whole system,” RTA spokeswoman Diane Palmer told the Chicago Tribune of the app.

The mobile site also features weather forecasts and information for walkers and bicyclists -- or any combination of the above. It also offers updates on delays or detours, as well as information on major area attractions, according to NBC Chicago.

The new site can be accessed by visiting from a web-enabled smartphone.
