It's not always smooth sailing when it comes to holidays and those relatives we don't get along with. Dr. Gail Saltz joined me on Mondays With Marlo, and she advised keeping everyone busy by planning activities for the group to participate in together. With everyone focusing on the activity, there is less chance of an intense conversation developing which might lead to conflict. If your guests are bringing food, suggest what would be most helpful so there are no hurt feelings or resentments. And if there is a particular conflict that has you worried, call that person in advance to discuss the issue and agree on keeping the holiday peace. A little advanced planning can help avoid those holiday blow ups.
