A Metrorail employee was struck and killed by a train Monday as he worked on tracks at the Earlington Heights station in Brownsville, according to Miami-Dade Police.
Details were scarce Monday, when aerial footage showed a tarp-covered body lying next to the tracks.
"The exact cause of death will be determined by the Miami-Dade County Office of the Medical Examiner," said MDPD spokesman Roy Rutland in a statement.
The station remains closed after the incident. Riders are being shuttled from the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. station to the Culmer station, and from Earlington Heights to Miami International Airport.
Police have not released the name of the worker, who has been identified only as a black male.
This is a developing story.
